Gayle King to Matchmaker -- Your Lawsuit Is BS!

1118_gayle_king_orly_getty_EX
Gayle King wants the lawsuit filed against her by a prominent matchmaker thrown out of court -- and it's all because she says she never signed on the dotted line.

As TMZ first reported, King was sued in September by Orly the Matchmaker ... who claimed Gayle promised to get her on "Oprah" in return for her matchmaking service. Orly claims she waived her $500,000 fee and Gayle went on several dates ... but never lived up to her Oprah promise.

According to docs filed in federal court in California this week, King says the entire lawsuit has no merit because California law states that oral contracts -- which is what Orly claims they had -- involving "dating services" are void and unenforceable.

A hearing on King's motion to dismiss is scheduled for January 9, 2012.

Mike Rowe Responds to Same Name Lawsuit -- BLAME MY PARENTS!

1122_mike_rowe_ex
Mike Rowe (the celebrity) tells TMZ ... he understands why Mike Rowe (the prisoner) has a beef about his name ... telling us, "The guy has a good point, I've wanted to sue myself for years now."

TMZ broke the story ... some unfamous prison inmate in South Dakota named Mike Rowe is suing the celebrity -- claiming he's constantly being harassed behind bars because they share the same name. He's also pissed that Lee Jeans claims Mike Rowe wears their product ... because "I am not for them."

Now, Mike Rowe (the celeb) is responding to the suit ... telling TMZ, "My attorneys are taking the charges very seriously. Naturally, since I got my last name from my Dad, I'm preparing my own lawsuit against him."

He adds, "And since my first name was my Mother's idea, she'll be named as well. It's a bit awkward, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna be left holding the bag on this one."

"If they'd named me Steve or Frank, none of this would be an issue.  As for the other Mike Rowe, I really do feel his pain, and can only suggest that he avoid Lee jeans while behind bars. They really do make your butt look good."

Power Balance Bracelets Lawsuit -- Forced to Pay $57 Million, Expected to Close Shop

Drew Brees Power Bracelets
Power Balance -- the company that allegedly duped athletes into believing its bracelets could provide super-human strength -- is about to take a $57 million dollar hit in a lawsuit filed by people who called BS on the product ... TMZ has learned.

As we previously reported, a class action suit was filed in federal court in L.A. back in January ... alleging consumers were duped into believing the hologram-embedded band was scientifically proven to enhance balance, flexibility and strength. There was just one small problem -- there was never any hard evidence to back those claims.

Now, sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell TMZ ... the company has reached a settlement worth $57.4 million, intended to compensate all those who were misled into buying the product.

And it gets worse for PB -- we're told the company will be declaring bankruptcy and plans to fold up shop altogether.

The Power Balance bracelets CRUSHED IT when they first appeared on the scene a few years ago -- with superstars like Drew Brees and Shaq vouching for the product.

Turns out ... size, strength and talent can't be sold in stores.
